Forest Grill Chef Named Semifinalist for James Beard Award

Birmingham is home to one of the best chefs in the region — Forest Grill Executive Chef David Gilbert has been named as one of 20 semifinalists for the 2012 James Beard Foundation award for the best chef in the Great Lakes region.

The awards bestowed by the James Beard Foundation are some of the highest honors given for food and beverage professionals in North America.

The foundation promotes culinary arts by honoring chefs, wine professionals, journalists and cookbooks across the country. The foundation also offers workshops, classes and conferences for aspiring chefs.

Gilbert is one of three semifinalists in Michigan, being recognized alongside Luciano Del Signore of Bacco Ristorante in Southfield and Matthew Miller of The Reserve in Grand Rapids.
