Eating Out: Smoke House BBQ Company serves barbecue favorites

By Bryan Stevens

I last wrote about The Smoke House BBQ Company on Milligan Highway a few months after the restaurant opened in April of 2010. Recently, when a friend wanted to try some local barbecue, I decided to introduce him to this eatery.

There have been a few changes over the past two years, mainly concerning the addition of a small bar at one end of the dining area. The restaurant now has a permit to serve beer with its barbecue offerings.

The location has been home to a number of eateries over the years, including an interesting experiment with pizza and Middle Eastern cuisine, but none of them have lasted very long. I suspect that Smoke House BBQ Company has now set a new longevity record at this location by making it to its second anniversary. Of course, part of the credit for that must go to their development of a winning formula with a menu focused on barbecue favorites that, according to the menu, have been “smoked slow and low with cherry and applewood for a sweet taste.”
