Shift in staff doesn't change quality

NEWELL -- John Lee, the new general manager for Butte Electric Cooperative in Newell, came from within the company to take over the top spot when long-time manager Ken Wetz retired. Lee, who was the former director of member services, still does some of the same things he did in his previous position, and he is still getting used to the challenges added by his new role.

"There are three facets to this job," said Lee. "One is the old position I held previously, another is the manager of operations, which Dave Zwetzig takes care of, and the other is office services, filled by Rhonda Paige. I have to coordinate all three positions into one strategic plan."

Lee said he also is responsible for the financial end of things, even though he answers to a board of directors. Lee has been in the general manager's position since the beginning of January and is still getting his feet wet. The general manager has to think globally while directing all three phases.
