Legion of Honor bestowed on Fred Hall of Rochester: French Consulate thanks ...

ROCHESTER — At a short ceremony held in the city on March 2, Consul Gnral of France Christophe Guilhou formally made well-known Rochester resident Fred Hall, 91, a Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Lgion d'Honneur, France's highest honor.

A second honoree, Bernard Little, age 92, traveled down from the Laconia region to Granite Steak and Grill, to receive his Legion of Honor award. Both men took part in the liberation of France during the Second World War.

"Mr. Hall's and Mr. Little's proud service to France reminds us that if it wasn't for the many Americans who took part in World War II, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the fruits of democracy and freedom, today. It is imperative that we honor them for their courage and sacrifices," said the Consul Gnral.
