Talbot turns 50

On Feb. 1, 1962, Talbot General Wire Products, founded by brothers Robert and Lloyd Talbot, opened in Neosho with seven employees in a 12,000-square-foot facility.

Fifty years later to the day, Talbot Industries, Inc. celebrated with its staff on the company’s birthday.

“I think that it is outstanding,” Talbot general manager Jeff Howrey said. “I just think that it is great that we have been able to stick around this long in this community, and employ the people that we do and continue doing business here.”

In 1969 and 1970, Talbot General Wire Products, Inc., merged Talbot Commercial Plating and Talbot General Steel into the business. These acquisitions added drawn wire capabilities as well as electro-plating and PVC coating and grew the business to 125,000 square feet by 1975.
