Hail to the chef: Obama gives Cameron a grill
British Prime Minister David Cameron will take the taste of America back to 10 Downing Street after President Barack Obama presented him with a gleaming new, top-of-the-range grill.
Obama and wife Michelle Wednesday presented Cameron and wife Samantha with a customized wood and charcoal burning grill, complete with US and British flags and a personalized plaque.
The gift, based on a standard Braten 1000 Series Grill which retails for $1895 dollars, is accompanied by two personalized chefs jackets for the Camerons, the White House said.
The grill is meant to commemorate the occasion last year when Obama and Cameron rolled up their sleeves in the garden of 10 Downing Street and grilled up lunch for members of the US and British armed forces.
Cameron used the gift to poke fun at his own girth, in comparison to the slender figure of the sporty Obama.
Fair enough, and one of the things I really fear is grilling. That cute little table-top Weber I bought 2? 3? years ago did get out of the box and that was it. I fear the trouble — the mess, the time, the fire and charcoal.
