Burn bans, red flag warnings continue

In case you haven't heard, it's dry out there.

Burn bans are now in place in 23 North Dakota counties covering an area from Williams County to the South Dakota border and everything southwest of the Missouri River and extending east to include Burleigh, Emmons McIntosh, Logan, Kidder, Wells and LaMoure counties.

Red flag warnings will remain in effect for much of the area through Tuesday as gusty winds and dry conditions persist.

Bill Abeling, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Bismarck, said the prospect of any significant precipitation doesn’t look good for the remainder of March.

"We're essentially going to be totally dry," he said.

Abeling said any rain that might come will be to the east of the Bismarck-Mandan area Thursday, but it won't amount to much.
