Truck Fire Almost Ignites Home

A freak incident on Wednesday afternoon nearly cost a St. Clair homeowner at least part of his house as it came close to catching fire after a neighbor’s vehicle rolled onto his driveway after it was ablaze.

No one was injured, and the house only sustained outside damage when some of the aluminum siding on one side melted because of the intense heat of the vehicle fire. The pickup truck was destroyed.

Quick action by both St. Clair police and fire personnel prevented the situation from potentially becoming much worse.

The scene unfolded at 4:31 p.m. when local firefighters were dispatched to 14 Dogwood St. behind city hall for the vehicle fire.

Limited personnel were available to respond because several St. Clair crews were busy at the time battling a significant brush fire southwest of the city between Tag-A-Long and Family roads.
