Some Masters patrons prefer home on wheels to hotel rooms

A few bring their homes with them.

After a day walking the course, Larry Henson and his son, Bryan, drive eight miles to the Heritage RV Park on Wrightsboro Road.

At the entrance, owner Don Rogers hung a sign: "Welcome Masters Fans."

The Hensons pull into the driveway and park. A 43-foot diesel pusher is home for the week.

It's one of many RVs to sit empty by day, when golf fans take to the course. By 6 p.m., they return in droves to light grills, watch golf on outdoor televisions and share a beer with neighbors.

This week, Rogers estimates at least 50 RVs will have stayed at his park for the Masters Tournament. He's already taking reservations for 2012.

RV reservations fill up almost as quickly as hotel rooms -- with one exception.

Motorhomes break. Inevitably, Rogers said, there are last-minute cancellations.
