Sioux City grocery shed fire started near charcoal grill

SIOUX CITY -- A fire that destroyed a storage shed attached to a Sioux City grocery store Friday started near a charcoal grill, officials said Wednesday.

Sioux City Fire and Rescue spokesman Jesse Pedersen said the investigation is complete, and that the fire originated near a grill being used at Caniceria El Michoano at 2600 Myrtle St.

The fire destroyed the shed but did not spread to the grocery store, Pedersen said. The grocery store was still ruled uninhabitable due to smoke damage.

No employees, customers or firefighters were injured, Pedersen said.
