A Smokin' weekend for the ages

Off-road enthusiasts, gearheads, fabricators, speed freaks and even competition-hungry grillers converged on the Guam International Raceway in Yigo last month for one of the most exciting weekends in Guam's motorsports history.

From April 15-17, The Shell V-Power 2011 Smokin' Wheels Racing Weekend enthralled thousands of fans. Friday night illuminated the quarter-mile drag racers and gave folks a preview of the oval stock car track.

Event sponsor Miller Lite, Island Flavor offered free-flowing beer and a bikini revue to add to the anticipation of the action-packed weekend.

And there was plenty to look forward to. Motorcycles and ATVs ruled the track on Saturday, along with Supermoto and Kart racers. Artistic drifters and wicked fast stock cars had their time on the asphalt as well.
