How to Keep Your Grill Safe this Season

There are an average of 8,200 home fires involving grills, hibachis and barbecues every year according to the National Fire Protection Association. Many grill fires can be prevented by simply making sure your grill is clean and working right.

If you're using a gas grill, check the propane tank and make sure it's secured correctly. If there are any leaks, shut it off and get it fixed. Also check the tank itself, if it looks too beat up, get it replaced.

As for charcoal grills, make sure you're careful with the charcoal starter fluid. You don't want to use too much.

No matter what kind of grill you have, clean off your grill, especially if you're using it for the first time this season. Bugs and rodents can sometimes make a mess inside which can be dangerous.
