Tips for a successful tailgate

"But Chris," you say. "It's been so long, like three whole months and I can't remember what I need for the perfect tailgate."

No need to fret. Faster than Clark Kent can bust out spandex, here is the list of do's and don't for the No. 1 spot at Ford Conger Field.

First, bring enough beverages to beat the heat and keep from getting too parched. The weather calls for a high of 80, so water would be a start. And of course, ice-cold beer is a great way to quench a thirst. But for an event such as the Steeplechase you should think outside of the box.

Natural Light won't do here. Seeing how it's officially spring, find a good spring ale with a hint of lemon or fruit such as a Sam Adams seasonal.

As important as what you drink is how you transport it. Remember, if you can't recall what you last had in the cooler, it's probably a good idea to clean it.
