Lackawanna County cultural officials plan two events this week

Cultural events planned this week

SCRANTON -The Lackawanna County Department of Arts and Culture will present two free cultural events this week.

The Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania will host a "Turkish Coffee and Culture Night" Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Electric City Trolley Museum, 300 Cliff St. Reservations are required with Maureen McGuigan at 963-6590, ext. 102, or mcguiganm@lackawannacounty.org.

As part of First Friday, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Exhale Kabob Grill, 136 Wyoming Ave., "Cultures of the Silk Road" will feature displays and performances celebrating the countries along the historic trade route. The event is organized by the University of Scranton Asian Studies Program, the Bhutanese-Nepali Community, Scranton Chinese School, the Kala School of Indian Classical Dance, the Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania, South Scranton Intermediate School and City Café.
