Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill in Plano offers cooking classes

Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill has been turning out traditional seafood dishes for nearly five years, but until now, the restaurant's staff wasn't able to share their expertise with customers.

That all changed after the restaurant underwent an expansion late last year, doubling the amount of seats and allowing space for the staff to host monthly cooking classes featuring both common and exotic seafood.

"This is something we have always wanted to do, we have just never had the time or the space in the past to pull it off," said Rick Oruch, the Sea Breeze fishmonger who has been in the seafood industry since 1988. "The classes are fun. Everybody wants to learn."

The first class is scheduled for February 19 and will include recipes for mussels, scallops, sole, and redfish. While the recipes shared will not necessarily be identical to the ones found on the menu, they will be something people can recreate at home without all of the fancy equipment found in a professional kitchen.
