D'Iberville BBQ Throwdown fires up Saturday

This year’s winner of the professional division event will be crowned the International Barbeque Cookers Association’s Mississippi champion. The sponsorship of the IBCA is expected to draw in additional teams from neighboring states.

Cook-off competitions will be held in professional and backyard divisions, as well as a children’s “piglet pork-chop” division. Participants will compete for more than $5,000 in cash and prizes.

Other attractions include the Budweiser Food Court, the Winn-Dixie taste tent, musical entertainment and many vendors.

Featured children’s activities include arts and crafts, face painting, games, clowns, train rides, hamster balls and a Lowe’s building activity.

All proceeds from the festival will be distributed by the Gateway Group to charities and needy organizations in the city.
