Restaurant Critic Review: Palm City's Mayas Grill expanding its menu beyond ...

A lot has changed since Mayas Grill first opened in Palm City. It didn't take long to go from being the Mexican restaurant that didn't have margaritas to a cool bar with a DJ and Latin dancing on Fridays.

The menu will shatter any ideas that Mexican cuisine is mostly variations of the same few ingredients, and that's what puts Mayas above its peers in town. Soon the chef will offer dishes from Brazil, Peru and other countries.

I decided on pollo con crema, chicken pieces with fresh mushrooms, onions and peppers, swimming in the most delicious creamy sauce ($13.50). The Yucateca sauce was flavored with mustard, and had a golden hue. This dish was as good on its own, with a fork, as it was wrapped up in soft tortillas with rice and refried beans. I can barely wait to order it again.
