Recipe: Mshikaki (beef skewers)

MSHIKAKI

5ml red chilli powder

2ml black pepper

5ml crushed ginger

5ml crushed garlic

15ml tomato paste

15ml oil

salt to taste

60ml fresh pawpaw puree

1kg rump or fillet steak, cut into cubes

Method

Mix all the ingredients except steak in a large bowl and marinate meat overnight or for at least 4 hours in the fridge. Skewer the meat on water-soaked wooden skewers.

Make the braai fire and grill the meat skewers on the braai, basting with marinade until cooked.
