London 2012 Olympics venue update: Lee Valley White Water Centre

"All the athletes love it. The GB team have been in place since January and they're loving it. The Slovakians were here last week and they were loving it."

London 2012 C1 hopeful Mark Proctor, who uses the course every day, quashes any suggestions that the course is fit purely for legacy and not competition, ranking it as a superior course than those used in both Athens and Beijing.

"I think it's the best site in the world now," says Proctor. "I'd definitely say since we moved down the consistency in our paddling has improved a lot more just because we've managed to get on here every day. It's a top-class facility for everything."

Clearly, the International Canoe Federation are impressed. They have awarded Lee Valley with the hosting rights to the 2015 Canoe Slalom World Championships
