Ex-baseball pitcher builds green home featured in commercial

Kelly Wunsch's first career was striking out batters as a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.

After retiring from baseball, Wunsch came to Austin in 2005 and started a new career in 2007: building green homes.

His newest home was noticed internationally, when KitchenAid shot a television commercial last month for Canadian television featuring the kitchen at 2412 Indian Trail in Tarrytown.

The advertising agency's scout was originally looking for an established home in Tarrytown but saw this new home with a nod to Craftsman-style architecture and was sold.

By happy coincidence, Wunsch had put high-end KitchenAid appliances into the home at Indian Trail. Some of these appliances stayed for the shoot; others were replaced with prototypes just for the shoot before the home's original appliances returned.
