Excise police issue 48 tickets in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. – Indiana State Excise Police officers issued 48 summonses in Muncie this weekend, most for illegal possession of alcohol.

One man was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after he tested more than four times the limit to drive in Indiana.

Of those arrested Friday and Saturday in Muncie, 24 minors were issued a total of 33 tickets for illegal possession, consumption or transportation of alcohol, minor in tavern or liquor store, possession of false ID, false informing and various traffic violations. Fourteen adults were cited or arrested for furnishing alcohol to a minor, public intoxication, operating while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and various traffic offenses.

Kerry Clevenger, 55, of Muncie was arrested Friday night after Ball State Police received a complaint that he was intoxicated and drinking in the Bracken Library on the BSU campus. Ball State Police and Excise Police found him in a state of intoxication and also found a bottle of Gin that he apparently had been drinking. Clevenger’s breath alcohol content was found to be .20%. He was preliminarily charged with public intoxication and taken to the Delaware County Jail.
