Massive crowd in Crown Point: 'Everybody's Irish today'

CROWN POINT — Revelers donned in all forms of green packed the downtown square and lined the parade route from Solon Robinson Elementary School for a glimpse at the fourth annual nighttime St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Record high temperatures for mid-March and the fact that St. Pat’s was on a Saturday drew thousands who circled the downtown square more than 15 and 20 people deep in what appeared to be the largest crowd ever to gather there.

Friends Meghan Lynd and Jessica Browne, both of Crown Point, got into the spirit, wearing green clover antennas and strands of green beads.

“Everybody’s Irish today,” Lynd joked. The duo had one of the better spots on the square, only a couple people away from the orange snow fence erected to keep paradegoers out of the route.
