TOTE chief grilled on rebates

OUTGOING TOTE Tasmania chief executive Craig Coleman will be back in the hot seat before a parliamentary committee today, to face a grilling over the company's rebates to big punters.

Mr Coleman has rejected claims by Tatts Group chief executive Dick McIlwain last week that major betting syndicates had undermined TOTE profits by demanding bigger and bigger rebates on losing bets.

Tatts has bought the TOTE from the State Government for $103 million.

The gaming giant yesterday told the stockmarket it expected an earnings boost from the purchase to kick in by the end of the year.
