Editor's Pick: The Slat Grill for Outdoor Cooking on the Go

'Tis the season for backyard barbecues, campouts, and tailgates. It’s grilling weather and you never know when you’ll be called upon to play grill master. But if you keep this handy portable cooker (available at slatgrills.com ) in your trunk, you’ll always be ready to cook up anything from hot dogs to kabobs.

Fed up with heavy camping stoves, Chris Weyandt decided to come up with a better method of cooking during his outdoor adventures in northern Minnesota. He enrolled in a designing class at a local community college then went to work on a grill that could be set up like the bolsa wood airplane kits he remembered as a child. He built a lightweight grill that could easily be disassembled and packed in a small case.

The only problem is, your buddies will always expect you to be the designated griller.
