5 Escape Montreal Drive Fire
Thirty firefighters needed 15 minutes to control a fire caused by a gas grill propane tank leak at a single-family home in the 1100 block of Montreal Drive Tuesday night.
All five residents escaped after the owner discovered the fire originating on a deck in the back of the home, according to Maryland State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire. No injuries were reported, according to Alkire's report.
Emergency crews assisted the family in tending to pets as the smoke from the extinguished blaze blew about the neighborhood in the Carsins Run area of Aberdeen.
Firefighters from Aberdeen and Level volunteer fire departments, as well as the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department, responded to the one-alarm fire at 5:07 p.m.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene after one resident refused to comply with firefighters by re-entering the home during the fire. He eventually complied with orders.
