Cache Valley Residents Offered Wood Stove Rebate

Cache Valley residents have till April 30th to take advantage of a wood stove rebate program. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality says it offers a rebate, discount and tax credit to people who replace their current appliance with cleaner-burning wood stoves.

DEQ hopes to improve air quality in the region by replacing old, air polluting stoves with EPA certified stoves, inserts, or natural gas or propane units.

The Wood Stove Changeout Program offers participants up to a $500 rebate and a 10% discount when they purchase a new wood stove or qualified unit. In addition, 40 percent of the cost of replacing the wood stove is deductible on the purchaser's Idaho tax return in the year it's replaced.
