'No electric bill' Trilogy homes debut

Shea Homes recently launched SheaXero — the “no electric bill” home — for houses in Trilogy at Monarch Dunes in Nipomo.

A SheaXero home produces as much electricity as it uses by using a high-powered solar power system, provided by SolarCity, combined with other energy-saving features.

Those include energy-efficient Trane heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, Jenn-Air Energy Star appliances, dual-pane, low-emissivity vinyl windows and blown-in recycled cellulose insulation.

Additional energy-saving features include sealed ducts, draft-reducing construction, digital programmable thermostats, compact fluorescent light bulbs, insulated garage doors and occupancy sensors.

SheaXero is available on virtually all plans, elevations and home sites.
