Houston Rodeo cookoff puts the best BBQ to the test
Team transformed a 1970s fuel tanker into a barbecue pit.
Along with food from some of the top barbecue masters in the world, visitors enjoyed live music.
This year’s attendance reached more than 255,000, breaking the 2011 record of 244,184.
A total of 431 barbecue entries from 263 teams across the state and the nation, including the Show’s 62 Area Go Texan counties, participated in the 2012 World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest.
The Motley Que Crew, which was a team comprised of cookers from all over the country, took home the overall grand champion prize.
The Crew seemed pretty impressed with the sights at their first Houston rodeo cookoff.
“The hospitality has been amazing,” said Matt Sprouls , a competitor from Detroit. “It’s been red carpet treatment since we got here.”
