Austell Woman Struck, Killed by Car on Busy Cobb Roadway

MARIETTA, Ga. - An employee of a Cobb County restaurant was killed late Friday night while trying to walk across a busy roadway.

Police stated in a release sent to FOX 5 on Saturday that Wendy L. Nolan, 39 of Austell was trying to cross Austell Road just south of Floyd Road just after 10:30 p.m. Friday when she was struck by a red 2004 Toyota Corolla in the northbound lanes.

Friends of Nolan told FOX 5 that Nolan worked at nearby Pasta Bella Family Grill and was trying to get across the street to cash her check.

Investigators believed Nolan stepped out into the car's path and that the driver, identified at Jasmine N. Hamm, 24 of Austell, did not have time to stop.

Police said Hamm was not injured in the accident is not expected to be charged.
