Theatre Harrisburg brings "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" to ...

The story of Joseph comes from Book of Genesis. Hebrew patriarch Jacob favors his youngest son Joseph and gives him a gift of a many-colored coat. In a fit of jealousy, Joseph’s brothers sell him into slavery and return the beautiful coat to their father in tatters.

Joseph, however, was also gifted with the ability to interpret dreams, which he uses while a slave in Egypt to draw the attention of the Pharaoh. This dramatic story of family, reversals of fortune and forgiveness was adapted into a stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Weber, which was the first publicly performed musical of the famed composer.

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” presented by Theatre Harrisburg this weekend through February 19, spans a variety of musical styles, including a celebratory hoedown in “One More Angel in Heaven,” disco number “Go, Go, Go Joseph,” and an Elvis-inspired Pharaoh in “Song of the King.” As a special fundraiser, tickets for this Sunday’s performance must be purchased through the Holy Spirit Hospital Auxiliary at 717-763-2796.
