Bar sport of champions

Whether you need to decide who gets the last slice of pizza, determine a designated driver or deduce who needs to run and buy toilet paper, Rock, Paper, Scissors is a handy tool.

It’s said that Rock, Paper, Scissors decided the outcome of the 1982 World Series and was the reason “Crash” won an Oscar for best picture. Of course, the people who say those things are wrong.

But beyond all that, Rock, Paper, Scissors is the sport of champions. On Monday nights Trophy’s Sports Bar and Grill hosts tournaments for the game, matching up competitors who have honed their skills through years of practice. Or whomever happens to be at the bar that night.

“It’s kind of whoever is around,” said Rick Ludwig, who emcees the weekly event. “I don’t know that anyone is making special trips out for Rock, Paper, Scissors, but we get people who have just finished up trivia, or are waiting for karaoke or late bowlers.”
